This is a working manager role and there is an expectation that time is spent on the tools when necessary. This balance of work is reviewed and agreed with the Contracts Manager on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

Technically lead the department

  • Departmental technical strategy setting and implementation in line with the company strategy
  • Standards of workmanship

Manage team members day to day for a high performing team

  • Site health and safety
  • Care for all people in the team
  • Recruitment
  • Individual development, training & performance management
  • Team development & performance management
  • Communication with the team at projects, department and business level

Manage projects

  • Planned work scheduling
  • Project quality and delivery from initial enquiry to closure
  • Client Site Visits
  • Site Surveys
  • Attending Pre-Start Meetings
  • Running of installations and maintenance teams day to day
  • Subcontractor management
  • Effectively communicating RAMS to teams
  • Delivering onsite training
  • Site inductions
  • Problem solving
  • Quality control
  • Effectively communicating with the client throughout the project
  • Carry out snagging works where necessary
  • Maintain effective communication with management to ensure smooth completion of works
  • Ensure all team members are documenting works and using Greenfields systems & processes correctly
  • Work on the tools on projects as needed

Business support

  • As part of the Extended Management Team, support the business to define and achieve the corporate objectives
  • Work with the Contracts Managers to define and achieve the department objectives
  • Support other Works Managers to define and achieve their objectives
  • Support other central functions such as finance, administration, maintenance and the yard to ensure smooth business operations
